-Okay, everybody. This is Patty Kavanagh. Patty's one of our most celebrated poets and quite contemporary he died 1967 I think and he's much loved so people asked me to go by Patty and tap him on the head for luck. We're gonna give you one of his famous poems. Now Lauren. -Okay. -Which is not only a poem. -This is a bit of a surprise for you because you didn't realize you're gonna be singing. -Oh. -I'm just trip. -You do not want me to be singing. Trust me. -Look, I'm not used either and I had to sing every day. -Oh gosh. Okay. -But Lauren don't worry. I'm gonna lead us off. This is one of Patty's most celebrated poems. It's called On Raglan Road which is a road very close by here. This is no coincidence Patty's here because this particular area, he was very fond of and Raglan Road is just over that bridge there, so this is written from the heart. So key in. -Did you know he was gonna do this? Oh my gosh. -I had to learn his whistle that was played to her. -Oh you did? Okay. Alright. -He had his head out the window at the jeep. -Go easy on me, alright? If I make a bum note, we'll just carry on. -Thank you. -He'll blend. -They can fix that up and follow the shot or what, probably-- -He was going with the breeze. He always says the breeze goes up the whistle the wrong way. -Oh blame it on the breeze. Really? Okay. -But you're off the hook for the first part because I'm gonna play the melody of this. -Okay. -Well it was actually the melody's called The Dawning of the Day but the poem is by Patty Kavanagh and he put the words, his words to the Dawning of the Day to this melody, okay? So I'm gonna play the melody. I'll sing the first verse on my own, alright? -Nice. -And then if you all, if the mood takes it you can all join me for the second verse. How does that sound? -Okay. -Sounds good. -Is that fair enough? -Huh. -Alright. -What do you think, Lauren? -I think I'm okay with this. -Okay. On Raglan Road. -This is gonna be good. -I'm gonna be in the editing room though. -Here we go. -I'm so not sure not eager with this. -Let's do it. -Okay. Here we go. -On Raglan Road of an autumn's day, I saw her first and knew. That her dark hair would weave a snare. That I might one day rue. I saw the danger and I passed along the enchanted way. And I said let grief be a fallen leaf at the dawning of the day. Verse 2, here we go. -Okay. -Oh man. -Okay. On Grafton Street in November, we tripped lightly along the ledge. Go on Lauren. Of the deep ravine where can be seen, lovely. The worth of passion's pledge. The Queen of Hearts still making tarts, I'm choking up, and I'm not making hay. Oh I loved too much and by such by such, is happiness thrown away. The last verse. On a quiet street where old ghosts meet, lovely. I see her walking now. Away from me so hurriedly, my reason must allow. That I have loved not as I should, a creature made of clay. When the angel woes the clay he'd lose his wings at the dawn of day. -Yes. -Yes. -Alright. -Very good. -Not too bad. -Not bad. -Not too shabby. I was getting all choked up there. Very nice. -Told you. -Oh my God. You try having to do that every day with a bad voice without a note in your head. -And you said you didn't have a voice. -Yes. -Oh I don't and I'm gonna cut my audio off and only feature you. -Now that was great. Pretty stuff. -Yes, I know. Brilliant. -Yes. -Not too bad.
