-Were you always a good putter or-? -Yeah. I feel like it's always been something that's-. -Who's your favorite person to watch putt on a PGA Tour? -Brad Faxon. -Oh, there you go. -I see that Brad has much I think more of a- -You spread out the right name. -Yeah. -You spread the right name. -Brad. -Do you agree with Brad? -No. -He's a good dude. He really is. He makes it looks so simple on the greens. He really is. What you're gonna do? He'd hit it about-I think I must gonna give it. -Well, for some reason, those green always runs a little bit quicker too. So, I'm gonna play it probably at least 2 or 3 Cups on the left. -All right. I think that's far off. -From here, I'm usually thinking I'm not gonna make it, so I make it in that 2 foot range. -It's a pretty good thought. [unk] at the hole. -[unk]. You have pretty good speed. -Not bad. -Notice the, I mean generally you're a pretty good putter, when you miss, where do you miss? Or do you miss? -Well [unk], I don't ever miss. But if I do, you know, I get a little shaky on this. I'll make sure one sometimes. If I'm, you know, the ones where you got to play outside, the hole going inside at 5 feet. They're tough for me. I never know whether to hit it soft and try to play the break or just try to hit through the break. I just-and like when I'm playing a tournament like this, I'll have to put everything out. I'm not with my buddies where- -And nobody's given that for you. -It's probably given to me. -Yeah. -Yeah. I get a little nervous so I run it pass. So, usually I'm a little bit, trying to hold these putts. Just feeling I'm not trusting that if I hit it left center here, which it looks like it's probably left center putt with speed, it's not gonna go off the line and lip out. -Well, I notice some on the 30 footer that you have there. It's funny, you know, when you putt, you say Brad Faxon, I mean, you're right. I mean, when Brad Faxon sets up over the ball, it just looks like he's gonna hit a good putt. -Yeah. -I mean, he puts himself in such a good spot, and I noticed that you set up to the ball and there's a couple of things you want. I mean, you want your putter shaft to be either straight up and down -Yeah. -or leaning slightly forward. And you know, you'll see players on tours set up with their hands slightly forward or forward press. -Yeah. And I've got- -Do you have to lean forward? -Yeah. -Okay. Obviously, Karin Sjodin and Phil Mickelson do that? A lot of players just set up with the shaft leaning forward. Your shaft was set up leaning back. Pretty good. -Yeah. -I mean, 45 degrees. So, I would guess that from time to time, you hit some balls? -Yeah. -And it's tough for you to take the club back straight back? -Uh-huh. -That you've been working putting inside, but that's just something to pay attention to. -And I've tried to work on the forward. I just, it's always felt a little bit awkward to me. -Well, you know, I'm not saying that you necessarily have to have a forward press. -Uh-huh. -I just think it's a good idea to set up with the putter in the same spot that you want to deliver it, it impact. -Yeah. -Which is sort of straight up and down. You don't wanna deliver it with a shaft leaning back. -Right. -'Cause then, you put the loft on it, you put the spin on. It's very difficult to get the putter going down the right line. -Yeah. -So, a good rule I found is that when you set up, your hands should be over sort of the inside part of your left drive. And if they are, generally speaking, they're gonna be in a pretty good spot in relation to the ball.
