-I'm Martin Hall. You're watching School of Golf Extra Credit Year-End Review. Major champion information. Okay. Here we go. Four tips from 4 major champions. First of all, we had on the set, Brittany Lincicome. Big hit from the LPGA Tour, great year this year, 2 wins, well up on the money list. She said she started to play golf with a too handy grip. Now, that would be one of the reasons she's learned to hit the ball so far, not the only one. If you have a young junior or if you want to beat more distance yourself, try hitting shots with a too-handy grip; that will give you a bit more leverage at the bottom and should give you a bit more clubhead speed. Now, there is a tendency to hook it there, which you could see, but if you want more speed, try using Brittany's too-handy grip; that's the one she started with. Second major champion we had on the set, Nick Faldo. Nick Faldo told me he learned his control, his precision with his irons, which he was famous for, by hitting the same club with the same length of swing, different distances. The same club, the same length of swing, different distances. He would take his 7-iron when he was while in Golden City growing up, and he would take a full swing and hit his first 7-iron all about 120 yards. And then with the same length of swing and the same club, he then try and hit it about 150 yards. And then with the same club and the same length of swing, then he'd hit it flat out. What he taught him he told me was the actual fact, you don't need to put all that much effort to get maximum distance. Good drill worth doing. Tom Watson. Everybody loves Tom, how could you not? Tom Watson, the lesson he got from his father starting out, take your belt buckle and make it face the target at the finish, belt buckle to the target at the finish, gave Tom tremendous leg action, tremendous move through the ball. And even though Tom is well into his 60s now, he still moves beautifully. Thanks to that lesson he got from his father. Now, the last tip, we didn't have him on the show. I'm hopeful maybe one day we will, but I spent a lot of time with the great Jack Nicklaus, and I'd say what I think is the best 'til last from the best that he's ever played. I have the chance to ask Jack one time, "How did you win all those majors?" And the short answer was "Never missed it left under pressure." Well, "Jack, how did you do that?" "Felt like the palm of my right hand was up to the sky after impact." So he said, when he was going through, he felt like the palm of the right hand was up to the sky after impact, never missed it left under pressure. I actually said, "Wow, I got lots of video; it doesn't look like that." He says, "Don't care what your video looks like. I know when I feel my right palm stays up, that ball is not going left." Four lessons from 4 major champions; that should help your game. Thanks for joining us on GolfChannel.com for the Best in Golf Instruction. I'm Martin Hall.
