-I'm Martin Hall. You're watching School of Golf extended library. My book today Six Days to Better Golf by Obitz and Farley is one of the very I ever bought as a matter of fact. My father told me about these people. He used to watch them; all the kings' men they were called down in the Bahamas had a wonderful exhibition. This is a super book for learning to freely swing the club. I picked out 4 points here that I think relevant. It's obviously a lot more than 4 in here that are relevant, but they also suggest and I agree always start with a short swing. People who are beginning the game should take short swing, little quarter swings. They also called little brush, brush swing, make solid contact with short shots. The arms swing the club. The hands do not level the club. My goodness, I wish I paid more attention to that one. I bought this book in 1978. The arms swing, but the hands don't lever the club, the hands sort of hold. They talked about actually pouring ice over the hands and freeze flash, so you'd have ice over the hands, and you wouldn't crack that ice during the swing. That's a great pick should to keep in mind, the arm swing freely by the times the blade. So, it's actually the arm swing freely back and forth. You're not trying to overly control the club face with the hands and arms, but either moving the bit quicker or a bit slower will get the club to close a bit sooner or close a bit later. And the last point and I think this is good. You see a lot of good players doing this. You'll see them with the practice swings. I think Ernie Els, a lot one I see this. They recommend taking lots of one-handed swings to feel the weight of that swinging motion, right hand down the left-hand, down the-- and in fact they recommend [unk], which ever of the 2 hands is the weaker hand that's the one you most work twice as hard. There's nothing positional in this book. It's all about motion and is a wonderful way to learn a true swinging motion. Thanks for joining us on golfchannel.com for the best in golf instruction. I'm Martin Hall. You've been watching an extended version of Martin's Library. For more tips and drills to help your game, tune in to the school of golf Tuesday at 7 p.m. eastern.
