Hi. I'm Martin Hall, your teacher on School of Golf on Golf Channel. Often, is there a tip that players can do in the winter, in the spring, in the summer, pretty much anytime anywhere that's going to help the game? There is and here it comes. It's called L3 Don't Lose That Tee. What am I talking about? Well, here is the L. The L that I might make between the shaft and the left arm. Here's the 3, because that would be 3:00 on a clock face. For me, if this is 6:00, this will be 5:00, this would be 4:00, this would be 3:00. So L3 means you're going to practice the very heartbeat of the swing, the beat that really can. You're going to make an L on the back swing, and you're going to practice swinging and hitting shots going L3. And when you get to 3, you need to see the toe of the club is in the air and you need to see the shaft is in line with the left arm. Where does the tee bit come on? L3 and Don't Lose That Tee. Well, it seems to be a lot of people have this rather silly idea. You've got to hold the club like you were holding a little bird. I think most players who were good hold the club a bit firm and- It's not actually the hands that are relaxed. It's the wrists that are relaxed. So, the tee. I've got 2 tees here and I want to see if you can do it. I'm gonna suggest you do L3 Don't Lose That Tee by putting 1 tee under the heel part of the left hand and trap it against the grip. Now the other tee, I'm going to put between the palm of my left and the thumb of my right and I have to just pop the club, pop the tee on my mouth for this. Now, this is a really good test to have fingers secure, wrist relaxed, great form. So I'm going to keep those 2 tees there as I go L3 Don't Lose That Tee. That's really a fantastic foundation for anybody's golf and once you get- when you get the angle of attack, so you hit the ball [unk] for the same time. You get the plane so you hit in the right direction. And with the toe in the air, you get the [unk] face. So pretty much get them all, as a matter of fact. So here we go. L3 Don't Lose That Tee. It looks like it's not that difficult. Try it. You'll find it's a little tricky. But you know what? If you stick with doing that, I'd be shocked if your game didn't improve. Thanks for joining us on GolfChannel.com for the best in golf instruction. For more tips like these, tune in to School of Golf every Tuesday at 7:30 PM eastern.
