Hi, Jim Williams here. I've got a real easy drill for those of you when you practice on the range, if you're struggling with coming over the top and maybe hitting the hosel of the club or hitting the shank. So here's how it works. If you have a problem hitting the hosel on a ball going sideways, what's happening is that the clubhead and the shaft of the clubhead are moving away from your body and across the ball and you're contacting it on the hosel like this. And so if you put something like a barrier just outside the ball like a head cover or a towel, what you can do is do a little avoidance drill and keep the club inside. Now this is really good because it really-- your brain processes this and it's gonna help you keep the club moving from the inside 'cause you don't wanna come out and whack into this towel like this. So what you're gonna do is start off with some easy shots and hit little chips just like this and try to miss the towel. And then you can elongate the swing into a fuller move once you feel like you've got the path right. Now the beauty of this drill too is it's gonna help you swing the club from the inside into the golf ball and on the natural arch of your swing. You don't wanna swing out and across and hit the towel. So take it back, swing it right on through just like this. The club should finish to the left a little bit and you should just skim the grass inside the towel. Try this drill when you're warming up to give you good awareness of keeping the club from the inside and then the ball should go right down your target line. Good luck.
