FORT WORTH, Texas – Zach Johnson and his caddie Damon Green are wearing green ribbons on their hats this week at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial to honor Green’s father who died last week.

Rev. Douglas Brooks Green succumbed to stomach cancer last Thursday. He was 88.

“It’s emotional,” Green said Sunday after Johnson’s victory at Colonial. “I’m OK with it now because I know Daddy was in pain. He was a preacher for 60 years, lived his entire life for that day to go and meet his maker. He’s in a better place.”

Green had a chance to talk with his father before he died, driving the 360 miles from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., to Pensacola on Players Championship Sunday after Johnson tied for second place.
