Let’s start with the rain delay on Friday morning at the Memorial Tournament.

@Harris_English Sitting in the safe house off #4 green. Jerry Springer is on TV. Ryo is getting his chance to experience America at its finest...

Onto the heavier stuff. The reaction to Phil Mickelson withdrawing after the Thursday’s first round, citing mental fatigue, drew strong reactions on both sides of the matter.

Told of the reason for the WD, Aaron Baddeley didn’t mince words.

@AaronBadds thats not a good reason!!

@PaulAzinger If a guy wants to WD a tournament after a bad round, that’s his or her prerogative as an independent contractor. #GolfersLife

Another hot topic around Muirfield Village GC was the firmness of the course. Steve Flesch was happy the Tour kept the difficulty modest.

@southpaw444 Nice to see that Jack and the PGA Tour officials didn’t repeat their genius move of furrowing the bunkers at the Memorial. #lightninggreens

Despite the tough course, a good chunk of the field still managed to finish under par on Thursday. Luke Donald was one of them.

@LukeDonald Really had to fight hard today to make a score, it wasn’t pretty but as they say there are no pictures on a scorecard #keepgettingbetter

Spencer Levin shot 67 to finish the day one off the lead. His homemade swing draws attention.

@KipHenley Obviously Im not even close but everytime I watch Spencer Levin play golf I am sure that I am way better at golfn than him. #lifesnotfair

A lot of people probably say that about my writing.

Finally, June 2 is National Bubba Day. Rickie Fowler offered his gift to the Masters champ last night.

@bubbawatson Caleb’s babysitter (@RickieFowlerPGA) finally showed up!! #UncleRickie http://lockerz.com/s/213407316
