Allen takes lead in rain-delayed Greater Gwinnett


DULUTH, Ga. – Michael Allen has opened his bid for back-to-back wins on the Champions Tour by taking the lead with a 5-under 67 in the rain-delayed first round of the Greater Gwinnett Championship.

Allen, who won last month's Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic, had birdies on two of his last three holes when the first round was completed Saturday morning. The second round will be played later Saturday.

Bart Bryant, Mark O'Meara, Mark Calcavecchia and Esteban Toldeo are tied at 68. Of the three, only Bryant completed his round on Friday. Tom Watson is part of a group at 69.

David Frost took a quadruple bogey on No. 8 Saturday en route to a 73. He was tied for the lead at 4 under through 13 holes when play was suspended Friday.
