Allenby Completes Australian Sweep


COOLUM, Australia -- Australia's Robert Allenby completed a two-week Australian sweep Sunday, birdieing the final hole for a one-stroke victory over countryman Mathew Goggin in the centenary Australian PGA.
Allenby, the Australian Open winner last week at Moonah Links, completed the third round with an 8-under 64 on Sunday morning and closed with a 67 for an 18-under 270 total on the Coolum Resort course. He also in 2000 and 2001 at Royal Queensland.
On the par-4 18th, Allenby hit an 8-iron shot to 3 feet to set up his winning putt.
'As soon as I hit it I knew it was perfect,' Allenby said.
Goggin finished with a 63, matching the course record.
Australians Rod Pampling (69), Nick O'Hern (69) and Nathan Green (72) tied for third at 15 under.
U.S. Open winner Michael Campbell of New Zealand closed with a 74 to finish 13th at 7 under.
Shaun Micheel was the top American, shooting a 71 to tie for 14th at 6 under. Bubba Watson (73) tied for 25th at 4 under, and Spencer Levin (71) tied for 35th at 2 under.
