Organizers for the Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters tournament said Arnold Palmer and Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier will take part in next April's celebrity event.
The tournament said it donated a record $425,000 from last year's event. This year's tournament will take place April 10 at Barefoot Resort & Golf.
Hootie lead singer Darius Rucker says he is gratified with the continued growth of the charity tournament. 'We are grateful to our faithful fans and friends who helped us set a new donation record,' he said.
Palmer, a four-time Masters champion, is generally credited with bringing golf to the masses through his charisma and go-for-broke style. Palmer's grandson, Sam Saunders, signed to play golf with Clemson beginning next fall.
Spurrier led the Gamecocks to a 7-4 record and a spot in the upcoming Independence Bowl.
The full list of celebrities taking part in tournament will be announced in February.
