PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The Presidents Cup will return to Australia in 2011, with Melbourne becoming the first city outside the United States to host the event more than once.

Still to be decided is where the tournament will be played. Tour officials said they would decide by the end of the year.

The Presidents Cup was held at Royal Melbourne in 1998, where the International team won, 21 1/2 -10 1/2 , handing the United States its worst loss in cup competition. Metropolitan Golf Club hosted the Accenture Match Play Championship in 2001, won by Steve Stricker.

The Presidents Cup was held in South Africa in 2003, and it will be played in Montreal in September.

It has been played every time in the United States at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Va., but will move to Harding Park in San Francisco for the 2009 matches.

The Presidents Cup features a team from the United States against an international team -- with players from every country but Europe eligible -- in match play.
