The 33-year-old Bettencourt had a tournament-record 19-under 269 total on the Shadow Hills course and earned $90,000 to jump from 53rd to 19th on the money list with $$193,843. The top 25 at the end of the season will earn 2009 PGA Tour cards.
This will take a while to settle in, Bettencourt said. Its what you dream about when youre a little kid. Its awesome. You dream about it but you dont know how youre going to react.
Dickerson finished with a 68, and earned $54,000 to jump from 47th to 26th on the money list. Spencer Levin (68) was third at 16 under, and Bradley Iles (66) and Brian Smock (69) were another stroke back.
Bettencourt was coming off a fifth-place finish last week in the Boise Open.
There are so many great golfers at all levels, Bettencourt said. Im as confident as Ive ever been right now but there is so much of this year left to go. Weve got four good tournaments left and Im hoping a couple more top 10s and Ill be closer to securing my spot for next year.
