Champions Tour season opens in Hawaii


KAUPULEHU-KONA, Hawaii (AP)—John Cook and Tom Lehman finished atop theleaderboard at Hualalai to open the 2011 Champions Tour season. The rest of theyear went pretty much the same way with each player claiming three events on the50-and-over circuit.

Cook is back in Hawaii to defend his title at the Mitsubishi ElectricChampionship, which starts Friday and is the first of 23 official events on the2012 schedule.

Lehman is coming off a strong season in which he claimed the money title andplayer of the year honors. Following his runner-up finish at Hualalai, he wenton to win three of his first seven starts, including a major.

The two are among 41 players entered in the winners-only event that includesnine members of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
