Chrysler will serve as the lead sponsor of the event next year through 2006.
The PGA Tour event, which has been sponsored by Touchstone Energy since 1999, will be renamed The Chrysler Classic of Tucson.
The auto company sponsored the PGA event in Tucson in 1997 and 1998.
While Touchstone Energy will no longer be the primary sponsor, the locally based electric cooperative was an important cog in the event's success and would continue to be in the future, said Wayne Smith, president of the Conquistadores, a civic organization that sponsors the tournament.
Smith said the four-year contract with Chrysler ensures stability for the 56-year-old tournament.
Dates for the 2003 tournament are Feb. 24 through March 2. The purse for 2003 will remain at $3 million.
