SEVILLE, Spain – Johan Edfors of Sweden shot an 8-under 64 Friday to open up a one-shot lead after the second round of the Spanish Open.
The 34-year-old Edfors made nine birdies to go with his only bogey on the 17th to sit one shot ahead of Mark Foster of England and Sebi Garcia of Spain. Garcia made five birdies on his last seven holes to surge through the field. Foster is playing with a borrowed caddie in Janet Squire – who normally works for Jeev Milkha Singh of India – and had seven birdies in a round of 66.
First-round leader Ricardo Gonzalez just barely made the cut after slipping to a 79 following his 65 on Thursday. Gonzalez dropped four shots on his first 10 holes and added a double bogey on the 14th in a round that didn’t include a single birdie.
