Golf Course Worker Dies After Driving into Lake

TAMARAC, Fla. -- A golf course maintenance worker died Tuesday after his cart went into a lake on the course.
The Broward Sheriffs Office was investigating the death at the private Woodmont Country Club, but foul play was not suspected, sheriffs spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
According to Coleman-Wright, a small group of women were golfing around 9:45 a.m. when they noticed a body floating in a small lake near the seventh hole. One of them called 911.
Rescue personnel responded and pulled the man, whose identity wasnt immediately made public, from the water. He was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The man had worked at the golf course since last August and was doing routine work on the greens, Coleman-Wright said.
A cause of death has not been determined.
