Gutschewski Wins Nationwide Tour Event

Nationwide TourRALEIGH, North Carolina -- Scott Gutschewski won his second career Nationwide Tour title Sunday, closing with a 5-under 66 for a two-stroke victory over Chad Ginn and Esteban Toledo in the Rex Hospital Open.
 
Gutschewski finished with a 14-under 270 total at TPC Wakefield Plantation and earned $90,000 to jump from 35th to eighth on the money list with $166,735. The 31-year-old former Nebraska player also won the tours 2003 Monterey Peninsula Classic.
 
Toledo finished with a 69, and Ginn shot a 71. Garth Mulroy (67), Greg Owen (70) and Matt Every (74) tied for fourth at 10 under.
 
The top 25 on the money list at the end of the season will earn PGA TOUR cards.
 
Its a huge step toward getting back where I want to be, said Gutschewski, who was on the PGA TOUR from 2005-07. Its tough to stick with it, and it worked out for me.
 
Gutschewski was strong late in his final round, with birdies on four of his final nine holes. He had birdies on the par-3 11th and par-4 12th, then closed his round with birdies on the par-4 17th and par-5 18th.
 
Toledo took a two-stroke lead with birdies on Nos. 12 and 13, but had bogeys on the next two holes.
