Jacobsen, a seven-time winner on the PGA Tour, underwent the three-hour procedure in Fort Lauderdale, the Oregon-based Peter Jacobsen Productions, Inc. said.
The surgery repaired a torn labrum on his left hip that developed into a bone spur. He had the same procedure in May 2001.
'This has been a very exciting year for me thus far. I'm disappointed that I'm faced with this injury and will not be able to play,' Jacobsen said through his company. 'But I'm optimistic that I will have a quick recovery and be back in competition soon.'
Jacobsen hopes to return for the Bayer Advantage Celebrity Pro-Am, a Champions Tour event in Kansas City, Mo., June 7-14.
The 50-year-old Jacobsen was named the PGA Tour's comeback player of the year for 2003 after he won the Greater Hartford Open.
