AGADIR, Morocco – Peter Lawrie of Ireland hit a superb 8-under 64 featuring two eagles to take the first-round lead two shots ahead of John Bickerton of England at the Trophee Hassan II on Thursday.
Lawrie, who had a further five birdies, was playing on the Golf du Palais Royal course. The field in Agadir, Morocco was split into two, with Bickerton on the Golf de L’Ocean course.
Lawrie is three shots ahead of defending champion Rhys Davies of Wales and Shiv Kapur of India. Both joined Lawrie on the Golf du Palais Royal.
Davies, defending his first title as a professional, had six birdies and a bogey in his round of 67, while Kapur sank five birdies and one eagle.
