ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP)—The Locust Hill golf course in suburban Rochester willhost the LPGA Championship next June, with supermarket chain Wegmans replacingMcDonald’s as sponsor of the season’s second major.
Newly named the LPGA Championship Presented by Wegmans, the $2.25 milliontournament will be held from June 24 to June 27 at Locust Hill in the suburb ofPittsford. The course has been home to the Wegmans LPGA, which will return in2011.
The championship is one of four majors on the LPGA Tour.
The announcement was made Wednesday.
McDonald’s has been involved with the event since it was founded as theMcDonald’s Kids Classic in 1981.
