LPGA Players Headed to the Raceway

Charlotta Sorenstam and 14 other golfers on the LPGA Tour are going to learn to drive all over again - at Watkins Glen International.
Skip Barber Racing will conduct a special clinic on Tuesday to teach the LPGA players the basics of driving a 140-mph Formula Dodge R/T 2000 race car, which is essentially a small version of an Indy Car.
The driving course will begin at 10:30 a.m., and will serve as part of the preliminary activities of the LPGA Corning Classic, which begins Thursday at Corning Country Club.
The R/T 2000 utilizes composite bodywork, front and rear wings, and a 5-speed sequential gearbox. Skip Barber Racing owns 65 of these R/T 2000s, used exclusively in the six separate auto racing championships it operates across North America.
Maria Hjorth, Tina Fischer, Mardi Lunn, Audra Burks, Lee Ann Walker, and Laurel Kean are among the others participating.
