Martin grabs lead at PGA Tour Q-School

PGA TourWINTER GARDEN, Fla. – Ben Martin had a 4-under 67 on Friday and opened a three-shot lead over Kyle Stanley as the final stage of PGA Tour qualifying reached the halfway point Friday.

Martin was at 201 as he tries to finish among the top 25 at Orange County National and earn PGA Tour cards for 2011. Even so, there was only a seven-shot difference between leading and those now on the bubble as the pressure starts to build.

Chris Baryla had another wild swing. He was 11 shots better on Thursday when he shot a 61, then was 12 shots worse in the third round when he had a 73. He still was tied for sixth in the group at 206 that included Billy Mayfair.

Brett Waldman, the caddie for Camilo Villegas, had a 71 and was at 211, just outside the cutoff for earning a card. The six-round tournament concludes on Monday.
