Mina Harigae collects Futures Tour win

MARION, Iowa ' Mina Harigae matched a Duramed Futures Tour record with a 10-stroke victory in the inaugural Ladies Titan Tire Challenge, closing with a 3-under 69 on Sunday to finish at 16-under 200 at Hunters Ridge.
Harigae, a 19-year-old tour rookie from Monterey, Calif., tied the record for margin of victory set by Marilyn Lovander in the 1994 Orville Beckford Ford/Mercury Futures Classic. The former Duke and Curtis Cup player earned $15,400 for her first professional victory to jump from fifth to first on the money list with $34,301.
The 2007 U.S. Womens Amateur Public Links winner and four-time California Womens Amateur champion, Harigae opened with a course-record 64 and shot a 69 Saturday to take a nine-stroke lead into the final round en route to the wire-to-wire victory.
I talked to some friends last night who told me to just birdie the first hole, Harigae said. So I did, and I never looked back.
After dropping strokes on Nos. 14 and 16 with her only bogeys of the tournament, she birdied the final two holes.
All of a sudden, I saw a bunch of people in the gallery, and I thought, Ive got to impress them, I started to tighten up, Harigae said. But my caddie told me to just let loose. By the time I got to my last putt on 18, I just thought, `If it goes in, it goes in.
Whitney Myers shot a 68 to finish second at 6 under, and Canadas Samantha Richdale (67) was another stroke back along with Liz Janangelo (69) and Christine Song (69).
