Monty to Join Woods in Dubai

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Scotsman Colin Montgomerie will play in next year's Dubai Desert Classic, a tournament he won in 1996.
'I've been visiting Dubai for many years now and know it as a world-class golfing destination,' he said.
The tournament, Feb. 2-5 on the Majlis Course at the Emirates Golf Club, is regarded as one of the flagship events on the European Tour and offers a $2.4 million purse.
Montgomerie will join Tiger Woods in the 120-player field. Woods, who confirmed his attendance last week, has failed to win the tournament in two attempts.
Montgomerie is fresh from his unprecedented eighth European Tour money title, wrapping it up Sunday with a tie for third in the Volvo Masters.
