Perry on Monday committed to playing in the tournament, which runs from July 29 to Aug. 1 at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs.
Perry grew up in Kentucky and said he has great respect for the work of coal miners.
Twenty-nine men died in an explosion at Massey Energy’s Upper Big Branch mine on April 5.
Resort owner Jim Justice said he’ll match Perry’s donation. Funds raised through The Greenbrier Classic will be donated to the families through the West Virginia Council of Churches.
