Rain Suspends First Round at Aussie PGA


COOLUM, Australia -- Rain and lightning forced organizers to suspend the opening round of the Australian PGA tournament Thursday after only 11 players completed their rounds.
Play was stopped before midday, with last weeks Australian Open winner Robert Allenby at 3-under after 12 holes.
Of those who completed 18 holes, Australians Richard Ball and Bradley Iles shared the lead at 1-under 71.
Richard Swift and Luke Hickmott were in front on the leaderboard at 4-under'Hickmott had completed 16 holes and Swift was on the 11th when play stopped.
U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell hadnt started playing, while defending champion Peter Lonard was 4-over through 13 holes.
Play was due to start 45 minutes earlier Friday to make up for the time lost Thursday.
