The Birmingham-based Regions will host the tournament at Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa, a Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail course that opened at the resort in suburban Hoover on Sept. 1.
For 14 years, the tournament was sponsored by the Bruno's grocery chain, founded by a Birmingham family, and raised $8.3 million for charities in the state. But Bruno's, which hosted the tournament at Greystone Golf and Country Club, has gone through several ownership changes and was recently acquired by Mauldin, S.C.-based Bi-Lo LLC.
The Ross Bridge resort's course and conference center are owned by the Retirement Systems of Alabama through subsidiaries. RSA head David Bronner said the course was designed to be 'extremely viewer-friendly.'
'I think it will be a spectacular setting,' he said.
