AUGUSTA, Ga. -- It's all a blur right now.
Obviously, I'm disappointed golf-wise. I was ready, I felt good today and I didn't do it. I had some good chances on the back to shoot under par and kind of get in there.
I called for a ruling on the 13th and I didn't get relief. I thought I was in a drain, and they said it wasn't. I only had probably a 5-iron to the hole, and I had to chip down an 8-iron. I was in the middle of the fairway and couldn't properly advance the ball. On 14, I had another ruling. I hit a bad tee shot and there were a lot of rocks. Let's say they were consistent in the interpretations of the rules.
The Masters for me started on the 14th with my third short. I don't know why it took that long -- well, I guess I do know why -- to get fired up. But I got mad on the 14th, got some speed in my swing and was back to normal. I hit a good shot and made par and said, 'I've got to get going and made some birdies.'
I had a good chance on 17, and then on 18 I hit the putt too hard and made bogey. The toughest part for me was judging the speed of the greens. My short game was off.
It's been an amazing week. Knowing that the lead right now is 2 under, I wasn't that far off. I played well enough to be close to it, but I wasn't sharp. That's certainly to be expected. I love the golf course, I think it suits my game and I look forward to coming back and having another chance.
I talked to Amy this morning. She said everything is great. The baby is doing well and feeding well, and everything is going the way it should. They're going to make her stay until tomorrow morning. She got out of bed for the first time yesterday.
We had a bunch of people at the house last night. I had a hard time falling asleep. Normally, I'm a 9:30 or 10 o'clock sleeper, and I was up till midnight last night. That's late for me. Guess I've going to be used to that, sleeping at odd times.
I changed two diapers before I left, and it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
As for the week, I never thought Lilly would come early. I knew she was close, but I thought she would be on time or late. It never occurred to me until walking off the 12th tee Wednesday that she was coming, that this thing is happening. It's all a distant thought now. Now that she's here, it's amazing.
The gallery was incredible. Literally on every hole, someone said, 'Congratulations' or 'Way to go, Dad,' or 'Papa.' It was pretty intimate. If Lilly had not been born, they probably would have said, 'Who's that guy playing with Vijay Singh?'
