South Africa celebrates Louis Oosthuizens Open win

JOHANNESBURG – Top South African politicians say that Louis Oosthuizen has done the country proud with his spectacular seven-stroke victory in the British Open at St. Andrews.

Minister of Sport Makhenkesi Stofile and the country’s ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC), say Oosthuizen’s victory on Sunday shows South Africa’s credentials as a winning nation in sport.

Stofile highlights that the triumph follows South Africa’s successful hosting of football’s World Cup and the winning return to the track of South Africa’s 800 meter runner Caster Semenya.

The ANC says that Oosthuizen’s triumph shows that South Africa can do more than host international sport.
