Strange to Play MCI Heritage

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Golf analyst Curtis Strange will take a break from his TV duties to play in the MCI Heritage next month.

Joining Strange, who won back-to-back U.S. Opens in 1988-89, in the field are the past two PGA Championships winners, Rich Beem and Shaun Micheel.

Organizers said that Blaine McCallister, the only PGA Tour player to make two holes in one during competitions at Harbour Town Golf Links, would also take part in the tournament to be played April 15-18.

Strange was the U.S. Ryder Cup captain in 2002. He is currently a golf analyst for ABC Sports.

Beem outlasted Tiger Woods by a stroke to win the 2002 PGA, while Micheel took last year's crown with a memorable 7-iron on the final hole that stopped inches from the cup.

McCallister had a hole-in-one at the 1989 Nabisco Championships played at Harbour Town and the 1996 MCI Heritage.

The latest entries join a list of competitors that included defending champ and five-time MCI winner Davis Love III and 2002 Heritage winner Justin Leonard.
