Tiger makes case as millions pause to watch - COPIED

PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem says he believes Tiger Woods’ statement was “heartfelt” and calls it good news for the tour.

Finchem says Woods “clearly recognizes” that he has affected a wide range of individuals and organizations with his infidelity.

The commissioner says there is anger among some groups because of Woods’ actions, but there also is a sense of sadness because Woods is “an American hero and he’s had these issues.”

Finchem says he finds Woods’ statement telling because he specifically addressed parents of children who may have looked at him as a role model.

Finchem commissioner calls Woods’ statement good news because he plans to return to the tour, could do it this year and has taken the first step in making it happen.
