STATELINE, Nevada - Actor Jack Wagner and former pitcher Mark Mulder shared the first-round lead Friday in the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe.

Wagner and Mulder each had 26 points in the modified Stableford scoring system. Players receive 6 points for eagle, 3 for birdie, 1 for par, none for bogey and minus-2 for double bogey or worse.

Wagner, the 2006 and 2011 winner, had four birdies in his bogey-free round.

''We don't do this for a living, so if I could have two more 68s right now, I'd take them and take my chances,'' Wagner said. ''I'm hitting the ball better than ever, but I didn't make many putts today. But I am happy to be here with 26 points after the first round.''

Mulder had six birdies - four in a row on the back nine - and four bogeys.

''I couldn't get anything going, but I am pleased with this first round,'' Mulder said ''I just wanted something in the 20s.''

Four-time champion Billy Joe Tolliver was third with 25 points.

''I went out in 32, but our pace slowed down and I played poorly,'' the former quarterback said. ''I know that if I think about anything for a long time, I'll screw it up.''

Entertainer Justin Timberlake had 15 points. Defending champion Mark Rypien had 10.

Charles Barkley was 90th in the 91-player field at minus-28. Kim Alexis was last at minus-34.
