Wiratchant Leads in China

AsianPGABEIJING, China -- Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchant shot a 3-under-par 69 Thursday to take the lead after a soggy first round at the Crowne Plaza Open.
Amid showers that forced suspension of play with 45 players needing to complete their rounds Friday morning, Thaworn led the way with consistent putting that produced six birdies, including a 30-footer on the 15th hole.
'We're playing on a tough course this week and the rain made it so much harder this morning. I didn't have the best of starts but I came back nicely,' said Thaworn, Asia's No. 1 player.
Li Chao, from Beijing, was one stroke back at 2-under 70 -- a bogey on the 18th hole cost him a share of the lead. Top draw Zhang Lianwei of China withdrew with the flu before his round.
India's Digvijay Singh was 2 under when his round ended after 12 holes.
