When last seen in Hollywood on Oscar Night, one of the film industrys biggest stages, Christina Kim was dancing.
Christina Kim
Christina Kim was loving every minute of her night out.
Specifically, she and Paula Creamer and Natalie Gulbis and Jimin Kang and Stephanie Louden had scored passes to the After parties following the Academy Awards ceremonies.
We were staring at a lot of people, Kim told me Monday. I had an absolute blast. My jaw was on the floor the entire time.
But her feet were flying. Kim estimates she danced for three and a half hours. Knowing Kim, members of an eclectic guest list at one party hosted by Elton John were staring right back at her.
Imagine, for a second, being stared at by Sharon Stone. Or Patty Hearst. Or Paris Hilton. All three were at Johns bash.
Kim, you might know, has lost close to 25 pounds since the 2005 season when she won once, went 2-1-1 at the Solheim Cup matches and ranked second on the LPGA with 330 birdies.
But prior to Sunday night she had missed her daily run several days in a row. I must have danced at least 1500 calories off, she said the next day. Ive done research on this.
Kim was calling from the airport in Los Angeles where she and Creamer and Gulbis were about to board the jet that would whisk them from the land of lotus eaters to Mexico City where they will all take their best shot at Annika Sorenstam starting Friday at the MasterCard Classic (Fri. at 4PM/ET on TGC).
Gulbis and Kim are represented by Octagon, a company with tentacles that reach into the entertainment industry. We see the LPGA as being in a great position, said Octagons Dan Baker. Natalie and Christina are great players and fun people.
In other words, they are very appealing to corporate sponsors. They know how to do an outing. And being seen on the scene at the After parties on Oscars night isnt a bad thing either.
Christina Kim is one of seven Kims with a full bio page in the 2006 LPGA Media Guide. But she manages to stand out in almost any crowd. It doesnt hurt that she is ranked No. 32 in the latest Rolex Womens World Golf Rankings.
Like Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady, Kim could have danced all night Sunday. She was surprised when the parties shut down at 2 a.m.
But it was a night to remember'starting with the black flapper dress she wore with the purple beads by Korean designer Sue Wong'to the people watching that was good to the very last drop dead, gorgeous, beautiful person.
Some times girls just want to have fun. Christina Kim had her share Sunday night in LA.
