The results are in. Eighteen questions produced hundreds of answers in a column posted in this space in late October.

The winner: Arnold Palmer, by a slight margin over Jack Nicklaus. Among others receiving votes included this eclectic group: God, Dwight Eisenhower, George W. QUESTION 2: WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE GOLF COURSE ARCHITECT?
 
The winner: Donald Ross by a narrow margin over Pete Dye followed by Robert Trent Jones. Among others receiving votes: Nicklaus, Ben Crenshaw, Palmer, Rick Smith and Mother Nature.
 
QUESTION 3: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GOLF HOLE IN THE WORLD?
 
The winner: The 18th at Pebble Beach followed by the 12th at Augusta and the 13th at Augusta and the 17 at the Old Course at St. Andrews. Among others receiving votes: No. 16 at Cypress Point, No. 8 at Pebble Beach, No. 17 at TPC at Sawgrass and No. 4 at Whistling Straits.

QUESTION EIGHT: WHO WOULD YOU PICK FOR THE 2006 U.S RYDER CUP TEAM CAPTAIN?
