The Ladies Golf Union announced Tuesday the eight female amateurs who will represent Great Britain and Ireland at next month’s Curtis Cup.
For the first time, the team, captained by Tegwen Matthews, was partially chosen through the Women’s World Amateur Ranking and Ladies Golf Union Order of Merit.
Stephanie Meadow, Bronte Law, Annabel Dimmock and Georgia Hall are the leading four eligible players via the WAGR, while Briggs and Cowley were selected via the Order of Merit table. Gemma Dryburgh and Charlotte Thomas were chosen by the LGU Selection Panel.
The event will be held June 6-8 at St. Louis Country Club. The U.S. named its team in March.
When Team GB&I won in 2012, it stopped a run of seven consecutive victories by the United States in this biennial event.
