Well what a way to finish the season. What an amazing finale. Mike made an amazing comeback and now has a chance to fulfill his dream of playing in a PGA TOUR event with his brother, Pat. Tony has nothing to be ashamed of; he played his game throughout the match, and I know he will take this experience and grow into a better player because of it. Both Gipper and Tony are special talents, and I hope to see them competing on a PGA TOUR course soon.
This finale officially ends my time at Golf Channel; it was one heck of a ride. Big Break was good for me. I met a lot of great people, made some very good friends and met that special someone too. Big Break means a lot of things to a lot of different people, but the one thing that is overlooked by the viewers is the amount of hard work and sacrifice the entire production crew puts into the product. It’s not as easy as it looks to get these programs on the air. Most of us sacrifice our own lives so that you, the viewer, get some great drama. I think the only times I missed an edit for Big Break is for the passing of both my grandmothers.
The crew is dedicated, and it definitely shows in the end product. I will miss going into battle with all those associated with Big Break, but there are two special crew members who deserve the most thanks. They are my editor, Trish, and my production coordinator, Stephanie. Without them, I don’t know if I would have made it through the last season. Steph was there from the very beginning of my journey and helped me not only become a better organized and efficient producer, but also helped out with anything I needed, like taking care of my yellow lab, Jazz, when I went on long shoots. Thank you Steph!
Trish, well, where do I begin? She is my better half or as we referred to each other, work spouses. She was the first person I saw every morning when I came into work and the last person I saw when I left late at night. I know for a fact that when you spend 14 hours a day in a cramped edit suite, you are going to have arguments. Trish and I had our arguments, but in the end Trish was always right. Trish, being around you and your passion has made me a better producer, and I hope one day to pay you back for all you have done for me. Just remember, you are the “bee’s knees”.
Thanks for the memories Big Break!
