Champ offers premium, durable C8 Grips

Small changes ... big result.

That is what Champ specializes in - we've seen it previously in their spikes and tees - so it shouldn't come as a surprise that they've hit another home run with their premium C8 Grips.

First, the specifics. The C8 is a one-of-a-kind Weather Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO) Technology Grip that is infused with Kevlar for greater torque control and incredible wear resistance. In fact, the Kevlar allows the grip to last up to 20 percent longer than a typical rubber grip.

The enhanced durability doesn't affect feel of the club, however, because of a special compound and anti-shock wrap that keeps the club comfortable and non-slippery even in the wettest of weather, all the while staying vibrationless at impact.

One of the neatest features of the C8 is the color options. They come in jet black, cool white, neon green, neon blue and orange. You can get them all the same color or you can mix them up, it's totally up to you.

I went with neon green for my testing set, and one thing is for sure, they will stand out, which I like, but if you're the more subdued type, I'd go with the black or white. While the colors still pop, they aren't quite as flashy.

As for the performance, I can honestly say I've never thought about my grips before. I play the grips that came on my clubs because that's just the way it is. I never thought my game could change so drastically with such a simple fix. As in many aspects of my life, I found out that I was very, very wrong.

It's hard to put into words the feeling of these grips. They are just the right amount of tacky on your hands, without going overboard. What it provides is a consistent feel for every club in your bag, resulting in more consistent shots, at least in my limited experience.

At $16 a grip, the asking price might be a little tough for some to swallow, but you truly do get what you pay for. The C8 is a top-of-the-line PGA Tour quality grip, and with the increased durability, it should last longer than anything you've used before.

For those looking for something a little cheaper, Champ is proud to offer several other options in the C series, that sell for anywhere from $4 to $10 per grip. They also offer a putter grip, the C1, that is available in small (65 grams), medium (75 grams) and large (85 grams), and is made out of lightweight polyurethane.
