KAPALUA, Hawaii – The driver that helped Jason Dufner claim his first major championship last year is no longer in his bag.
Dufner revealed Thursday that the Titleist driver he’d used for three years suffered a cracked face during last month’s Franklin Templeton Shootout, so he replaced it with a newer model.
“I've got a new driver I've been working with them on, the new 913. Well, for them it's not new, but for me it's new,” he said in advance of this week’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions. “So I'll have that in play this week. I think they have worked really hard to get me something that fits that was similar to the 910 that I was playing.”
He said the club has the same shaft as his previous driver.
Last season, Dufner ranked 107th on the PGA Tour in driving distance and 41st in accuracy.
