Another notable new offering in the golf outerwear category comes from Fila, which not too long ago released the London Waterproof Rain Jacket. Company designers describe the product as lightweight and versatile, and say it was made so as not to restrict a player’s swing.
According to Nancy Robitaille of Fila Golf, one of the key features of this garment is the way the shoulders, armholes and hood have been critically sealed to keep water out.
“As far as we are concerned, those are the most important areas to seal for a golfer because that is where moisture is most likely to come in,” she says. “We cannot seal the entire jacket because it would not breathe. But we can do it here, and be sure we keep players dry.”
Keeping them warm on inclement golfing days is also important. Robitaille adds. Which is why Fila has added a soft, fleece lining in the pockets as well as against the neck.
Other attributes of the London jacket are a detachable hood, breathable mesh lining and Velcro adjustable sleeves. The shell is made of polyester with mechanical stretch and a raglan sleeve from the top of the shoulder to the cuff, so there is no restriction in motion.
In addition, Robitaille says that a slight finish backing ensures that the garment, which comes in Black, Desert Sand, Fila Navy and Silver, is both waterproof and breathable.
