Mizuno's new irons designed for top players

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the new MP-H4 irons from Mizuno, geared toward those golfers whose handicap indexes reside in the 2 to 12 range, is that company engineers have actually created three different designs within the set, in an effort to maximize performance in all aspects of iron play.
The first design element is evident in the long irons, Nos. 2, 3 and 4, which feature a “hollow head” construction that consists of a grain-flow forged face and a stainless steel back. These are made to offer players legal limits of COR, as well as a deep Center of Gravity (CG) for long, consistent distance with an easy, high launch. Those clubs in the mid-range, from 5- to 7-iron, have that same head make-up and boast a medium level COR and what Mizuno technicians describe as a large “sweet spot” for controlled distance and forgiveness.
Then, there are the scoring irons, 8-PW, which are composed of forged carbon steel and have a compact, half-cavity design to promote precise accuracy.
In the process of developing those advances, Mizuno engineers also worked to optimize sound and feel in the MP-H4s, by utilizing the company’s Harmonic Impact Technology (H.I.T.) with Modal Analysis software. At the same time, they incorporated a strategically placed trailing edge bevel for a wider sole and deeper CG.
Mizuno director of marketing Chuck Couch calls the MP-H4s “the most forgiving and playable MP irons in company history” and says that the three unique head constructions are “seamlessly blended from 2-iron to PW for feel, trajectory and ball control.” He adds that Jonathan Byrd has put the long-iron version of these in his bag.
Available in right-handed versions only, the MP-H4s come with True Temper Dynamic Gold steel shafts stock and Golf Pride M-31 58 round grips.
