World record holder sent packing

LA QUINTA, Calif. – We have an interesting withdrawal to report this morning from the Stadium course at PGA West. As today’s final round was about to begin, Palmer flight competitor Dave Davlin had to bow out because of a prior commitment.

As it turns out, Travelin’ Davlin is a professional trick basketball artist who had to catch a flight back to his home town of San Antonio to do a show for 4,000 kids.

The scheduling conflict came at a particularly bad time for Davlin, who came roaring back from a slow start to make the cut in the Palmer flight. His scores of 82-77-77 had him sitting in a tie for 11th place heading into the final round.

In 1990, Dave set a Guinness World record by spinning 12 basketballs on his body at one time.

And you thought golf was a difficult game…
