The WGC-Accenture Match Play event is upon us - do you think you know who will advance?
There will be 64 matches contested this week, so the mission is simple: choose the most winners. Use the comments section below to tell us how you think the next day's matches will play out. This means we will start by picking the winners of the 32 first round matches, then re-group before Round 2 on Thursday, and so on. We will use the article body to run a daily update on where everyone stands.
To be eligible, you must submit your first round predictions by 11a ET Wednesday. From there, we'll get a head count on the group and move forward each day as the bracket develops. If needed as we approach the final matches, we'll take steps to ensure that players in the lead pick first so that those trailing have a chance to go opposite and catch up.
If you have questions, post in the comments below. Check out the full tournament bracket here before making your picks. Good luck...
Wednesday Update: Higher seeds had their day in Round 1 as upsets were abundant; those that had foresight to predict them fared better than those who played it safe.
Through 32 first round matchups, our leader with 21 points is thejigsup, who correctly saw Manassero, Yang and Ishikawa through to Thursday. Tied for second with 20 points are esa_20, Edgk and Mykey3210.
Thursday Update: Still a few upsets today, but not quite as many as Round 1 and 3/4 top seeds are still standing.
Through two days, three commenters are tied at the top. Mykey3210, okty and requin have all correctly predicted 30 of the 48 matches thus far. Okty had a Thursday-best 12/16 showing, including being one of only three to correctly foresee Sang-Moon Bae's upset of Charl Schwartzel.
Friday Update: With eight matches to go, requin has taken the lead with 36/56 correct on the heels of a 6/8 showing on Friday. Trailing two behind are okty and Mykey3210, each with 34/56.
Saturday Update: Along with YGBSM59, requin posted a perfect 4/4 quarterfinal predictions and has nearly put the 'title' out of reach with 40/60 matches correct. Mykey3210 and okty are the only folks that can catch up, but requin has them dormie as both trail by 4 points with only 4 matches to go.
Sunday Update: With his back against the wall, Mykey3210 went 4/4 on Sunday and managed to catch requin for the lead, as the two ended up tied with 40/64 matches correct. Okty finished third with 38, two points behind. Thanks to all who participated this week!
