Expert picks: Wyndham Championship

RSS

This week marks the final event of the PGA Tour's regular season, as Sedgefield Country Club hosts the Wyndham Championship. Each week, a panel of experts will offer up their picks from four groups of players, based on Golf Channel's fantasy game, Fantasy Challenge. We will also keep track of their scores and standings. The panel includes: senior writers Rex Hoggard, Randall Mell and Jason Sobel; contributors John Hawkins and Win McMurry; editorial director Jay Coffin; 'Morning Drive' host Gary Williams and staff writer Ryan Lavner. They are joined by former 'Saturday Night Live' star Norm Macdonald, who will serve as a celebrity guest.

Rex Hoggard

Group 1: Brandt Snedeker: Although Sneds hasn’t been as consistently brilliant as he was earlier this season – first (Canadian Open), T-33 (WGC-Bridgestone Invitational), T-66 (PGA Championship) – he is still an easy pick considering his history in Greensboro (three top 10s in six starts including a victory in 2007).

Group 2: David Lynn: The Englishman is becoming a cult hero on Twitter thanks to his quirky sense of humor and he seems to have emerged from a “dog days” slump with his tie for 22nd at the PGA Championship.

Group 3: Cameron Tringale: He's looking for his first top-10 finish since the Tampa Bay Championship, but the key to playing Sedgefield well is putting and he was solid on the greens in his last start (Canadian Open, T-9 in total putts).

Group 4: Justin Bolli: At 144th on the FedEx Cup points list the veteran needs a big week to make the playoffs and he’s made the cut at the Wyndham in both of his previous appearances (T-51 2005 and T-15 in 2008).

Jason Sobel

Group 1: Webb Simpson: Carolina guy has been playing some solid golf recently, and could even be considered the favorite here.

Group 2: Carl Pettersson: Playing his home course in front of the hometown fans has worked out for the past champion before.

Group 3: Matt Every: Never bet against a guy who has Tim Tebow's nameon his golf bag. That's some karma right there.

Group 4: Andrew Svoboda: Fresh off a Web.com Tour win, he'll get a taste of life in the big leagues, where he'll likely return next year.
