| Group A: Matt Kuchar Group B: Charles Howell III Group C: Mark Wilson |
Finished runner-up last year on his way to the Tour’s money crown and hasn’t missed a beat in 2011 with back-to-back top-10 finishes to start the season. Transition to new equipment seems to be completed and he has played solidly in Palm Springs in the past. We normally would shy away from a guy fresh off a victory, but he’s clearly playing well and the Hope rotation favors his fairways/greens game. | ||
| Group A: Jeff Overton Group B: Kevin Na Group C: Alex Prugh | Out of the way, the Overton Express is rolling through the desert. The long hitter will make birdies in bunches. The rattlesnakes in the desert get nervous when this guy gets his glare going. He’ll glare the ball in the hole a lot this week. A West Coast guy, he had a chance to win the Hope last year, betting he'll feel comfortable there again this year. | ||
| Group A: Matt Kuchar Group B: Steve Marino Group C: Mark Wilson | Plays well with others so pro-am format isn's an issue and consistent play from last year has spilled over to 2011 with fifth- and sixth-place finishes in the first two events. Personable guy that should enjoy the pro-am format and his T-2 last week has gotta have him thinking it's time for that first carer win. He's gotta be tired from 36 holes on Sunday, but never underestimate momentum in this crazy game. | ||
| Group A: Bubba Watson Group B: Steve Marino Group C: Scott McCarron |
Contended last year – inexplicable layup down the stretch. Better player than 12 months ago. Makes birdies by the bushel, doesn't have to worry about bogeys. Strong Sony. Just a hunch, which is what Group C is all about, but he's got a lot of game for his age.
| ||
| Group A: Matt Kuchar Group B: Ricky Barnes Group C: Pat Perez |
The man is clearly the best player in the field and he tied for second place here last year. You need to make a ton of birdies to compete at the Hope and Barnes can do that. If you have a chance to take a former champion of the event in the third group, take him.
