'I was so relaxed yesterday and in a good mood,' said the 29-year-old Materne. 'I went to have my tires rotated and while waiting I got a pedicure. It was a great start to the day and that put me in the right frame of mind, relaxed.'
The five-year veteran proceeded to par 10 through 12 before play was suspended at 3:55 p.m., due to of severe weather conditions including lightning, torrential rain and hail that moved through the area. At 5:10 p.m., play was cancelled for the day leaving 72 players to return this morning to finish their rounds.
Materne returned this morning and two?putted on 13 and then her first full swing of the day, on the par five 526-yard 14th hole, she pushed her driver into the trees in the right rough. She proceeded to punch out, lay up on her third shot, hit her wedge to 20 feet and missed the putt for par. That would be her only bogey of the day. Materne finished strong with birdies on 17 and 18.
So what is Materne going to do until her 5:20 p.m. tee time today?
'I going to go back, take a shower, sleep and go get a manicure,' stated Materne. 'I want to be relaxed. Today is going to be along day.'
