Harbour Town Golf Links - Hilton Head SC

RSS

2007 Verizon HeritageThis week the PGA TOUR returns to Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, S.C., for the Verizon Heritage where GCSAA Class A Golf Course Superintendent Gary Snyder has added $50,000 in drainage work to the landing areas around the golf course.

With the tree-lined narrow fairways and small greens, he says that every club in the bag will be needed and that competitors must be able to work the ball. Snyder points to No. 14 as a make-or-break hole in any given round. A 190-yard par 3 with a narrow fairway lined by water on the right and OB on the left, a little wind can cause it to be the most difficult on the entire TOUR.

Harbour Town is Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program certified as Snyder has reduced pesticide and fertilizer use. He has successfully restricted human access to several wetland areas throughout the property and has added several bluebird houses.
