Love Says Presidents Cup Was Turning Point

The Presidents Cup last year was the turning point which rejuvenated Davis Love III's career, says Love.

Love was a perfect 4-0 in the competition last fall, capped off with a defeat of Ernie Els in singles, 4 and 3. He won the Williams World Challenge shortly thereafter, and has won once, lost in a playoff once, and finished one shot out of another playoff since.

At this week's Genuity Championship, Love is just three shots off the 54-hole lead following rounds of 65-70-69.

'The Presidents Cup was the turning point,' said Love. 'It's hard to get confidence, but then it's hard to shake it.'

Love, who is 36, said age has not robbed him of any length. 'The amazing thing is that I haven't gotten any shorter,' he said. 'If anything, I have gotten longer.

'I'm getting more carry with my ball and the metal wood that I'm using is actually a little longer,' he said, referring to his Titleist equipment. 'And my short game has really improved.'
