DryJoys Tour a stable relationship

RSS

Stability is the key word when considering the new DryJoys Tour shoes, which were engineered with input from various FootJoy staff touring pros and came to market earlier this year. And that performance attribute was a priority in their development.

It begins with components that have been designed specifically to give golfers a more stable playing platform and greater control during the swing, but without compromising the comfort and traditional look of a FootJoy shoe. One of those features is a new, TPU-integrated EVA midsole. Another is the next generation Tri-Density TPU Stability PODS outsole, which has been “bumped out” in key areas to increase surface area in those parts of the shoes and maximize ground contact.

A fiberglass composite support bridge has been added for greater mid-foot stability, and a new cleat configuration in the heel, employing four cleats, is geared to increase traction and stability. And speaking of cleats, the DryJoys Tour employ new Cyclone cleats by Softspikes, offering what FootJoy officials describe as “green-friendly traction.”

PGA touring pro Jonathan Byrd wore DryJoys Tour when we he won the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii in January, and longtime FootJoy staff player Steve Stricker also has donned the new shoes, which come in eight stock styles.

“You immediately notice the improved stability and connection with the ground,” Stricker said. “It’s a significant improvement, and one that benefits performance. Equally important, the overall comfort is outstanding.”

FootJoy designers say they were able to ensure that comfort with so-called In-Shoe technology that includes full leather linings that are slip-resistant and waterproof as well as a soft and durable underfoot cushioning advance they describe as “Comfort Plus PU Fit-Bed.” They also tout the ECL leather uppers that are not only soft and breathable but also waterproof.
